Bodegas Corisca

Bodegas Corisca

The Bodegas Corisca is a small winery owned by the Fernandez family

It is located in the municipality of Salceda de Caselas, (Region: Galicia, Condado do Tea) in the immediate vicinity of the Rio Miño, which forms the border between Spain and Portugal near the Atlantic.

It has 4 hectares of Albariño vines today (2017)Corisca_Albarino 35 years, so in terms of quality in the best age. The indigenous grape variety Albariño has been perfectly adapted to the humid, Atlantic climate for centuries. They grow on mineral rich soils of granite, gravel and sand, an optimal condition for the production of high quality wines. The grapes are small and rarely reach a weight of 200 g. They have a thick shell, which protects against moisture, but it is also resveratrol embedded, the insects are not very tasty, but for mankind it can be very useful.

The yield per hectare of grapevines is an average of 4,000 kg, resulting in soft pressing only about 2,400 liters of organic wine, which is of the highest quality. Since low yields in normal vintages (without prolonged rain, thunderstorms, hail, frost) are always an indication of quality wines, you can expect Corisca one of the best Rias Baixas, and also stands out as organic wine from the mass of conventionally produced wines out.

In general, the Rias Baixas region has a reputation for delivering Spain's best and most expensive white wines. However, this alone is no guarantee for a consistently high level of quality.

The Bodegas Corisca of the Fernadez family is so far the only organic vineyard in the Rias Baixs area and copes very well with the prevailing humid and warm climate thanks to an enormous amount of work with the grape variety Albariño. Thus, the Fernandez family manages not only to produce a very pure orgnic white wine, but also an excellent and high-quality RIAS BAIXAS Albariño.
