Herdade dos Outeiros Altos organic wine, Organic wine Portugal - Alentejo

Fernanda Rodrigues and Jorge Cardoso have created a small gem of an organic winery with Herdade dos Outeiros Altos. It is located near the town of Estremoz in the Alentejo region. The Alentejo is one of the most important and renowned wine-growing regions in Portugal. Herdade dos Outeiros Altos is also the first organic winery in this region. Thanks to its isolated location, far from farmers and winemakers who spray conventional chemicals, it is protected from the drift of chemical sprays. From the outset, the goal of this agricultural project was not only to promote biodiversity and environmental protection, but also to produce authentic, distinctive organic wines.

From the beginning, the aim of this agricultural project was not only to promote biodiversity and environmental protection, but also to produce authentic, individual organic wine.

They should express all the richness of the terroir and the native grape varieties. Based on the local culture, which goes back to Roman times, old viticulture and winemaking methods are used if it is beneficial to the quality of the wine. This also includes the maturation of the organic wine in clay amphorae (Talhas).
