Pares Balta

The Pares Balta winery was founded in 1790. Since then, the philosophy of this impressive organic winery has remained unchanged: producing the finest organic wines and cavas in harmony with nature. Respect for the needs of nature, employees, and customers is evident today in the cultivation of the soils and vines in the vineyards according to the biodynamic principles of the Demeter Association, and the processing of the grapes into biodynamic wines and cavas.

Joan Cusiné Hill was born in 1917 in a small town in Penedés. As the son of a family of winemakers, he dedicated his life to cultivating the vine. He started working at the age of 7 and it can be said that he never retired, at the age of 80 he was still helping to supervise the viticultural works carried out on the farms.

With the unconditional help of his wife, Rosa Cusiné, they worked hand in hand to leave the best to their grandchildren. From the very beginning, these were not only organic vineyards, but also unshakable family values: love for nature, honesty, effort and courage, which are still valid today.

The current generation of the Cuciné family, Joan and Joesp (the third generation), support their sons Joan and Maria Àngels, along with their wives Maria Elena and Marta, both trained oenologists, to the best of their ability to continue and preserve the legacy of their ancestors.

• Soil, calcareous with clayey loam, deep, permeable, stores rainwater without damming it up.
• Altitude of the vineyards: 210 to 235 m above sea level with slopes of 2 - 5%.
