Finca Loranque

Finca Loranque

As documents describe, viticulture was already practiced on the lands of Finca Loranque in the 11th century. The recent history of this agricultural estate began in the early 1990s by the Díaz Bermejo family, who bought 500 hectares of arable land.

The task now was to find the soil on these 500 hectares that would offer the best conditions for the cultivation of the Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot grape varieties. With the support of Pablo Eguzkiza from the Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez, which enjoys the best reputation in Spain for being able to determine suitable terroirs in the specific climatic conditions and the desired grape varieties. After detailed, conscientious investigations and analyses, they agreed on 42 hectares of light, calcareous and loamy soil, which should be planted with vines. This decision was not easy for the Bermejo family, because it could mean a successful career as a producer of sophisticated organic wines, or the failure of the project.
In hindsight, it shows that the planted vines feel good and deliver grapes of high quality and concentration. In this way, Finca Loranque builds on the former good reputation of the wines from Toleda with excellent, modern organic wines, which are in great demand both nationally and internationally.
