Château La Vivonne

Château La Vivonne

The Château La Vivonne was founded in 1904 and is one of the most renowned wineries in Provence.
It has 25 hectares of vineyards with a harvest of 1,000 hectoliters result in wine. Based on one hectare, it is 40 hectoliters, a relatively small amount that indicates the high quality of the wines.

The average age of the vines is 30 years. They grow on sandy clay soil with marbled limestone underground.
The range of grape varieties consists of the varieties Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Rolle, typical of southern Provence and approved for AOC wines.
The white and rosé wines are matured in enameled concrete tanks and the red wines in their own barrels.

Château la Vivonne is located on the driveway to the medieval village of Le Castellet and near the Mediterranean. The vineyards are laid out on terraces around the winery. The Mourvèdres vines required for the famous Bandol wine thrive here.

Since his takeover of Château La Vivonne by Monsieur Michel Benheim in 2011 modernization work was carried out to remain one of the jewels of the wine-growing history of the Bandol wine-growing region.

The vineyards are gradually being completely converted to organic viticulture. The younger vintages are already officially in the process of change and have been tested and certified as organic wines in conversion.
