Clos du Mounat

There is literally no Wine Estate called Clos du Mounat,but just a vineyard that Christian Gourgourio bought a few years ago in the Appellation Côtes du Bourg on the east side of the Gironde. By working as a viticulture consultant, he found the logical access to organic viticulture and became a self-employed and independent winemaker.

In Bordeaux, it is not easy to find affordable, larger, contiguous vineyards. That's why in 2014 he bought 3.57 hectares of vineyards in Tauriac, in the Côtes de Bourg appellation and named it CLOS DU MOUNAT.

2017 FOLLOWED the purchase of another vineyard in neighboring Blaye. He gave the wine produced there the name CHÂTEAU LA MÉTAIRIE DE MONCONSEIL.

This is common and legal practice in the Bordeaux area.

We know that in this phase it is vital for young winemakers to be able to sell their wine, although it is not 

not a fully-fledged organic wine. From our point of view, we as traders have to contribute to in

 creasing the amount of organically farmed areas and reducing the environmental and health-damaging effects of conventional viticulture.

With that in mind, I hope for your understanding and that you will occasionally buy wines from this producer from us. You will not regret it!
