Domaine de Marcouix

The Domaine de Marcoux has vineyards whose vines are on average more than 50 years old and on 4.5 hectares even older than 90 years. They are a real treasure and a prerequisite for the production of top-quality organic wine.

The grapevines of the Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault varieties grow on different plots with different types of soil. Depending on the vineyard location, there are reddish, mineral-rich soils that are covered with large, rounded stones that store the heat of the day and release it to the vines at night. Also gravelly and loamy, but also sandy and calcareous loam soils are available in different layers. They also contribute to the complexity of the wines, as do the different grape varieties. Very low harvest yields of less than 20 hl / hectare for the old vines and less than 40 hl / ha for the younger vines, as well as the manual grape harvest in multiple passes guarantees that all grapes are brought in optimally.

Catherine and Sophie Armenier's striving for the most natural possible cultivation and perfect organic wine led them to biodynamic viticulture according to the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, which is applied in many phases both in the vineyard and during winemaking. The reward for their many years of experience and their careful work are organic wines of the absolute international top class with the highest ratings.
