Château Saint Jean Lez Durance

Château Saint Jean Lez Durance

consists of 24 hectares of vineyards in different locations, which are planted with the typical Mediterranean grape varieties of different ages on soils that consist of limestone, gravel or Schlickterrassen, fine sand or loam. So it is not surprising that the organic wines of Château Saint Jean-Lez-Durance are distinguished by their freshness, nobility, richness, generosity and complexity.

The wines from this region have long been valued at the table of the European Royal Courts, before being forgotten in the 19th century.

"We are certainly the oldest independent domain of the Alpes de Haute-Provence," says Jean-Guillaume d'Herbès, with vineyards on stony terraces between the Luberon and the Durance. At an altitude of 450 meters, at the confluence of Alpine and Mediterranean climates, our grapes ripen later than in the plain, but our organic wines are more fruity and alive ".
