Instead of 3,300 vines per hectare, it is here 6,600, at the same time, the harvest is only half as large as allowed. This is a clear indication that Château Beau Rivage places more emphasis on quality than quantity and offers really good wine.

Organic wine - profile

Organic wine - Processing, Château Beau Rivage, Bordeaux Supérieur, AOC, red 

Outstanding features are the double number of vines prescribed for Bordeaux Supérieur wines and the low yields of only 25 hl / ha. The 8 hectares of vineyards on former boggy and reclaimed flooring consisting of mud, silt, clay, loose rock (quartz, mica and feldspar) are planted with 6.600 vines/ha with an average age of 38 years (2012). Their yield is limited to 40 hl / hectare. The manual and mechanical grape harvest (depending on the plot) was carried out from October 3 to 17. Before performing the actual fermentation, the grapes are gently crushed and subjected to a cold maceration. Then the 4-week lasting alcoholic fermentation in traditional wood and concrete vats follows. Then the wine is racked in barriques (new 60%) from the family's own production, where the wine undergoes the malolactic fermentation and a 24 months lasting maturation.
