Oeko-Weingut Zang, "Orts-Wein", Pinot Noir, Newd World, Franconia QbA, organic wine, red, 2018

Rainer Zang, the winemaker, tries to interpret his local wines as clear anar ad transparent representatives of grape varieties without much chichi. He focuses on the mineral origins of the vineyards around the wine-growing towns of Sommerach and Nordheim. The existing shell limestone soil from the Main loop runs through the wines like a cool stream bed. Like the Oeko-Weingut Zang Orts-Wein Pinot Noir, New World, they are all consistent representatives of its organic philosophy and style: close to nature, unvarnished, honest and dry.

The name is no coincidence and is stylistically in stark contrast to our finer 'Old World'. This Pinot Noir surprised us in its style with a very international feel, which is more familiar from warmer growing regions in the New World: Significantly louder, fruitier and more lush in expression, but still very Pinot Noir.

Organic wine profile

  • Color: It stands in the glass with fiery cherry red
  • Nose: a fragrant bouquet of juicy red fruits such as cherries, blueberries and blackberries. There are also traces of dried fruit, bacon, leather, licorice and bay leaf as well as a hint of almond, cloves and vanilla.
  • Mouth: While its brother from the 2012 vintage is much cooler and more reserved here, this 2018 wine is more of a lush, warm juiciness. It glides silkily smoothly over the tongue with well-integrated tannins at the edges and lingers full-bodied on the palate. The dense finish with red fruity fullness spreads its extract-rich presence throughout the entire mouth. This Pinot Noir flexes your muscles.
  • Drinking recommendation : Serve at 14- 16°C.

Organic wine production, Oeko-Wein-Gut Zang "Orts-Wein", Pinot Noir, New World, Franken QbA, red

All grapes are harvested by hand and spontaneously fermented with the grapes' own yeasts and matued in wooden barrels. With the exception of some SO2, no preservatives or fining agents are used.

The straightforward local wine from the Nordheimer vineyards stands for lively freshness and densely embodies the long-standing ecological cultivation of the vines.
