Bodegas Bagordi

The Bodegas Bagordi is located in the Rioja Baja just a few kilometers north of the point where the Rio Ega meets the Ebro.

It was founded in 1995 by Luís Manuel Carcar, a passionate and experienced winemaker in Andosilla. The name Bagordi goes back to the Basque word Bagoa, which means a beech grove, which in this case is a beautiful place in the Baztán valley, not far from the Bodega Bagordi.

The vines in the vineyards of the Rioja Baja enjoy pronounced Mediterranean temperatures during the day during the summer months, which are interrupted by cool nights and winds from the north. From 1998 onwards, excellent organic wines have been produced there, which have both strength and abundance, but also rich, fresh aromas with a beautiful structure. Since about this time we have been purchasing organic Rioja directly from Bodegas Bagordi.

The Bodegas Bagordi in numbers:

• Bodegas Bagordi size: 65 hectares
• Management: organic since 2004
• Organic wine production: All grapes come from our own vineyards and the wine is vinified and bottled in the cellar rooms of Bodegas Bagordi.
• Organic wine maturation: depending on the type of wine, it is matured and stored in stainless steel tanks and / or in 1,000 barriques made from French and American oak.
• All remaining activities and decisions are made together.

In order to meet the requirements of this large winery, the company structure changed in 2001 by adding the Bollmann and Brunoseto families.
