Lombardy is a region in northern Italy

which extends from Lake Garda in the east to beyond Milan (capital) in the west, to the north to the Swiss border and to the south to Ferrara, Cremona, Piazenza and almost as far as Genoa. Due to this special feature, very different

production conditions arise here in terms of climatic and geological aspects. We owe this fact to a large number of controlled designations of origin (DOC and DOCG) for quality wines, which take these factors into account in their production regulations. There are also more generous production regulations for IGT wines (formerly Landwein).
