Herdade dos Outeiros Altos organic wine, Organic wine Portugal - Alentejo

Fernanda Rodrigues and Jorge Cardoso have created a small gem of an organic winery with the Herdade dos Outeiros Altos.

It is located near the town of Estremoz in the Alentejo area. The Alentjo is one of the most important and renowned wine-growing regions in Portugal. At the same time, Herdade dos Outeiros Altos is the first organic winery in this region.

Thanks to its isolated location, far away from farmers and winegrowers who conventionally spray with chemicals, it is spared the drift of chemical spray.

From the beginning, the aim of this agricultural project was not only to promote biodiversity and environmental protection, but also to produce authentic, individual organic wine.

They should express all the richness of the terroir and the native grape varieties. Based on the local culture, which goes back to Roman times, old viticulture and winemaking methods are used if it is beneficial to the quality of the wine. This also includes the maturation of the organic wine in clay amphorae (Talhas).

Herdade dos Outeiros ALTOS differs from the standard of the usual mass production in the Alentejo because of its small vineyard area of ​​only 6 hectares. These can be handcrafted and every aspect of wine production can be monitored at all times. This is how the best, unique and individual organic wine with personality can be created.

Cork oaks are also peeled every 12 years on the Herdade dos Outeiros Altos and contribute to to economic existence of the owner family
