Podera La Palazzetta

Castelnuovo dell'Abate has been the home of the Fanti family and Podere La Palazzetta for generations. The great-grandparents and grandparents grew grain and kept animals.

The switch to the production of wine began very timidly, only the expansion of the very small zone in which Brunello wines can be produced made it seem sensible to switch entirely to viticulture.

Flavio and Carla Fanti started making wine in 1988 with just one hectare of Sangiovese grapes. Today, their children, Luca and Thea, are continuing their parents' work with the cultivation of 20 hectares of vineyards and 2,500 olive trees.

The vineyards and 2500 olive groves are located southeast of Montalcino at an altitude of 365 m, from where you can enjoy the view of the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The nature with mild, rainy winters and dry, hot summers enables relatively reliable grape and olive harvests of the best quality. This results in fragrant, intensely colored Brunello wines, Rosso di Montalcino, San’t Antimo DOC and Rosso Toscano wines, which also contain acidity and tannins, because without them wines would be boring and short-lived.

Since the 2018 vintage, all wines have been certified organic, only the Brunello wines are still in conversion due to their long maturation period.
