Clos du Mounat

There is literally no Wine Estate called Clos du Mounat

but just a vineyard that Christian Gourgourio bought a few years ago in the Appellation Côtes du Bourg on the east side of the Gironde

By working as a viticulture consultant, he found the logical access to organic viticulture and became a self-employed and independent winemaker.

In Bordeaux, it is not easy to find affordable, larger, contiguous vineyards. That's why in 2014 he bought 3.57 hectares of vineyards in Tauriac, in the Côtes de Bourg appellation and named it CLOS DU MOUNAT.

2017 FOLLOWED the purchase of another vineyard in neighboring Blaye. He gave the wine produced there the name CHÂTEAU LA MÉTAIRIE DE MONCONSEIL.

This is common and legal practice in the Bordeaux area.

The conversion to organic viticulture began immediately in 2014, the wines of the 2017 and 2018 vintages are declared as "organic wines in conversion".
