Organic and biodynamic wines from Provence

Countless wineries in Provence produce high-quality organic wines that are very popular in the best restaurants and among wine connoisseurs around the world. It is not only the famous and unsurpassed rosé wines, but also elegant, harmonious white wines, as well as excellent and sensational red wines that underpin the good reputation of Provencal organic wines. With organic wine [pur] they are the focus of French organic wines, because in Provence organic viticulture can be produced under favorable climatic conditions like hardly anywhere else.

The wine-growing region of Provence is divided into the following areas or appellations (quality wine areas AOC/AOP):

• Cotes de Provence
• Coteaux Varois en Provence
• Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence
• Bandol
• Cassis
• Palette
• Baux de Provence
• Bellet

There are also 2 IGP regions, namely Var and Mediterranée.

The Provence wine region extends in the north on a line from Arles in the east through Pierrevert in the middle and beyond Draguignan in the west. In the south it extends from Marseille along the Côtes d'd'Azur almost to Cannes.

Although the Luberon wine-growing region and large parts of the Rhône wine-growing region are geographically located in Provence, they are not part of Provence in terms of wine law.
