Organic and biodynamic wines from France have a long history,

they have been produced with great success in all wine-growing regions of France for decades.

As early as 1955, Monsieur Guillot, a notary, published a book entitled “Une autre révolution” (Another Revolution), which was about organic viticulture, which he himself ran on his Domaine des Vignes du Maynes in Cruzilles.

The importance of organic wines in France can be seen in the size of the organically and biodynamically cultivated vineyards, which are larger than the entire vineyards in Germany.

When selecting these organic wines and biodynamic wines, their flawless appearance, their clear grape-specific scent and their good taste are important factors for us. However, we also take into account the quality of the manufacturing processes from the vineyard to the bottling, all of which must take place in the winery with its own workforce. This means that the responsibility for an organic wine is in one hand. Its origin is understandable for us and for our customers. We therefore do not purchase organic wines and biodynamic wines from cooperatives or wine bottling plants.

We know that health and safety laws and compliance with the SMIG (minimum wage) in France are strictly controlled and violators are severely penalized. On the other hand, extremely low wine prices suggest that these are at the expense of employees, who are paid less, have no social security, work "black" and do not receive paid vacation.

Depending on the location of the vineyards and machine equipment and the size of a winery and the type of cultivation, be it organic or biodynamic, a certain number of permanent employees and seasonal short-term employees are required, for example for the wine harvest. In the end, the calculation of the sales price of a wine depends on this. If this is disproportionately low, either the harvest is too high and the wine is not of high quality, or the social conditions on the winery do not meet the standard. You will not find French organic wines and biodynamic wines from such wineries in our range.
