Life is a unique experience, so we invite you to look at wine from an unusual perspective and return to the Romans who used clay amphorae for the fermentation, maturation and storage of wine over 2,000 years ago. To remember the old, in this case the amphoras of clay already used by the Romans, has become a great recipe for success for the Herdade dos Outeiros Altos Alentejo DOC Talha. Talha is the Portuguese name for amphora and the organic wine matured in it was simply called: Talha, Alentejo DO, Portugal.
So without Barrique - and wood aromas, just the pure fruit flavors are felt. An elegant and complex aroma of ripe fruit, blackberry, plum, black tea and rosemary. In the mouth with irrepressible fruit and fine tannins that give the wine freshness and structure.

this small organically managed wine estate where as little as possible is interfered in the natural developement once the juice starts to ferment. But before every care has been taken in the vineyards to letting grow and ripe the best possible grapes. Because it's the grape from which true quality derives, it's the grape that transports the minerals, the vitamins, the color, the smell and the taste from the soil, the climate "the "terroir" and not the over manipulating wine maker - what a word?  The result is an unique organic wine from hand picked and very carefully selected grapes, which are transported to the winery in 12 kg-crates. As they reach their optimum level of maturity at different times, the fermentation of each variety is done separately in comprehensive Talhas carreying 1,200 liters (clay amphoras). In it, the wine remains until Saint Martin's Day in November, where it is stirred several times during day and night in order to extract the ingrediences of the berries. Then the wines is moved from time to time from one to another Talhas, leaving the solid parts behind, thus separating the wine from the marc. When this organic wine is completely clear, it remains another 12 month in the Talhas for maturation.
