This Dominio de Verderrubi Pita Sauvignon Blanc offers all the characteristics that made the wines of this grape variety from New Zealand or the Loire so famous. Just a little different, perhaps fuller, but also with the typical aromas and scents and a good portion of mineral notes.

The Organic wine - processing, Dominio de Verderrubi Pita, Rueda DO Sauvignon Blanc

The 2023 harvest began with the Sauvignon Blanc grapes at the end of August. The harvest result was very low compared like in the previous year. The vines, which were still very young at the age of eleven years, had to suffer from prolonged drought because their roots are not yet buried as deep as the roots of the older Verdejo vines. Apart from the small amount of harvest, the quality of the grapes was excellent. After maceration at low temperature, the fermentation took place spontaneously with the grape's own yeasts, which ultimately preserve the terroir-specific character of this organic wine. After fermentation, the wine matured on its "fine yeast" for four months. This process creates valuable enzymes that positively influence the taste, stability and shelf life of the wine.

This Dominio de Verderrubi Tempranillo organic wine has an exceptionally good price / enjoyment ratio. The reason for this is a small harvest and careful winemaking in a modern winery in the Rueda area, where almost only white wine is produced.

Organic wine - processing, Dominio de Verderrubi Pita, Rueda DO, Tempranillo, Finca La Bonera

The Tempranillo grapes come from the first small vineyard called "Finca La Bonera" that the Pita family owned and laid the foundation for a modern winery "Dominio de Verderrubi", which today cultivates almost 60 hectares organically. Here the harvest is always small, in 2016 it was only enough for 3,000 bottles of very, very good red wine. Of course, the grapes were harvested by hand and immediately afterwards the actual winemaking started by removing the panicles and stems from the grapes and gently squeezing them in a grape mill. After a few days in the mash, the spontaneous fermentation started with the grapes' own yeast. The winemaking process ended with the 12-month aging of the wine in French barriques.

Biodynamic wine - processing, Lagravera, Costers del Segre, DO, Ónra, rouge

The Vinya Núria vineyard is interspersed with boulders left by the Noguera Ribagorçana River, and the soil in the vineyard consists of sand and gypsum.

As for all Lagravera wines, the grape harvest is done manually, leaving less well-developed grapes on the vine. Since Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon do not reach the optimal degree of ripeness at the same time, they are harvested and processed separately.

The fermentation of the Garnacha grapes takes place in stainless steel tanks and the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and uncoated concrete tanks. This makes wines more pleasing, rounder and softer.

The wine then matures for a whole year in 500 liter French oak barrels and could therefore be called Crianza.

The fermentation is carried out with the grape's own yeast, which preserves the typical grape and soil aromas. The wine then matures in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.

  • Colour: Intense, bright ruby ​​red
  • Nose: Pure, intense scents of ripe currants and red plums paired with the ripe aromas of roasted coffee and caramel.
  • Mouth: Intense on the palate with aromas of red plums, a good balance of acidity and maturity, round, ripe tannins that give the Give body and structure to wine. Long-lasting and elegant in the finish that ends with notes of spices.

Organic wine - Profile

  • Nose: delicate bouquet of sweet white fruits
  • Mouth: in the mouth there are aromas of citrus fruits that suggest a lot of freshness. Overall balanced, very clean with a long finish.
  • Drinking recommendation: serve this white wine at a temperature of 9 ° C., if you like it with starters, light dishes, vegetables, fish.

 

Organic wine - making, Vins el Cep, Blanc de Terrer, Origin Terrers

The winery comprises 100 hectares of vineyards, 30 hectares of which are cultivated biodynamically according to the criteria of the Demeter Association and 70 hectares organically. With a few exceptions, the grapes from the individual vineyards are used for cuvées, i.e. for wines from different varieties. These can come from a biodynamically or biologically assessed vineyard. For this reason there is only one wine and one cava that can bear the Demeter logo. In the course of the next few years, all vineyards will subsequently be converted to biodynamic viticulture.

This wine is made from a single grape variety, the Xarello grape, which grows in Can Miquel de les Planes in Gelida, on the slopes of Espiells. This 2 hectare vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, which makes it possible to obtain grapes of the best quality to produce this excellent wine.

The vines were planted in 1974 at a distance of 1.2 m from vine to vine and with a line spacing of 2.8 m on a slight slope in a south-east orientation. You are now at the optimal age in which quality and quantity are in balance. The soils in this vineyard are of moderate depth, with clay structures, porous with great microbiological activity.

Usually the climate is ideal, moderate rainfall allows the grapes to develop well in the final vegetation cycle and to expect high quality harvests.

The grape harvest in the vineyards of Vins el Cep begins in mid-August with the Pinot Noir grape variety and ends at the end of September with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety.

The grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the cellar for further processing in transport boxes as quickly as possible. There they are gravity fed into the wine press, where 45 - 50% of the juice comes out of the berries without pressure and the rest is gently pressed. This is the most subtle way to extract grape juice. This is followed by a very short maceration in the skins at a low temperature. Then the berry skins and seeds are separated from the grape juice, which begins to ferment in small stainless steel tanks.

This red organic wine is a cuvée made from the grape varieties Ull de llebre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grown in the vineyards of Paulo and Crestes in Can Prats, Planeta in Can Castany and Serral in Can Miquel de les Planes, a privileged area in terms of viticulture Costers de l'Anoia originate between Gelida and Sant Llorenç d'Hortons.

The vines were planted between 1979 and 1985 and were between 36 and 42 years old in the harvest year, an age that promises the best grapes.

Usually the climate is ideal, with moderate rainfall allowing the grapes to develop well in the final vegetation cycle and yielding high quality harvests. For this wine, the praying grapes were selected from each vineyard
